Seth Godin, a very respected writer of several bestselling books about Internet marketing, gives us a very interesting point of view about Social Networking for businesses, specifically Facebook and Twitter.

It really opened my eyes about being overwhelmed updating those accounts daily just to get views/followers... Does it really worth?

Could you share your experiences? It would be great for everyone to see your comments...

Soapy Pleasure, handcrafted nourishing soaps

Hi there!!

After a long time of practicing the perfect recipe, testings, blending fragrances, taking pictures and working hard, my soap shop is now live :)

Soapy Pleasure is one of my dreams come through and was opened on July 14th, 2009 having a great acceptance by people on Etsy... I have four sales by now (Yay! me) and some local sales from friends that love my soaps.

All my soaps are enriched with a finest blend of moisturizing sweet almond oil, jojoba oil and Vitamin E, and some of them have additional natural ingredients that are beneficial for your skin.

Almond oil is an excellent emollient suitable for all skin types, soothing and softening your skin while conditioning and promoting a clear young looking complexion. It balances the moisture in the body and helps to restore it combating itching and inflammation.

Jojoba oil is a liquid wax that has the best affinity to human skin, operating almost the same way human sebum (oil) does, so it is easily absorbed by your skin moisturizing it without blocking the pores. Jojoba oil is hypoallergenic and has also restorative, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.

Vitamin E oil prevents water loss from the skin and helps to retain its natural moisture, acts an antioxidant which prevents the formation of free radicals on the skin and protects it from any kind of damage.

Thank you so much Suzanne from Texas for being my first happy customer on Etsy, I am so grateful for your support and I hope you are enjoying your soap.

I want to invite you to take a look at Soapy Pleasure, I will be adding new products daily and accepting custom requests. Additionally, if you want to buy from my two shops, any purchase you make from Earth Expressions will be shipped for free with your Soapy Pleasure order ...I could invoice you through Paypal or send you a refund.

Finally, I would love to share with you something amazing!
Etsy Adm handpicked one of my soaps to make the Front Page two days ago, I am so happy about that... Actually I missed it, but some friends on Etsy helped me to find the screen shot and here it is :)

Hope you have a great Sunday!

Packaging & Shipping Tips

Handmade envelopes and bookmarks

Hello everyone!

I would like to share with you some tips about Packaging and Shipping that I was reading lately. For everybody who runs an online business, there are a few important things to take in consideration when mail your items to your customers.
Handmade Bookmarks using recycled papers

Your customer will have a good impression if the item arrives safely and attractively packaged, so, put a little extra effort in make your package original and secure. You can use stamps, tags, stickers, recycled materials, ribbons, paints, bubble wrap, padded envelopes, etc., to make it special... be artistic and innovative.

Add a nice handwritten "Thank You" note. That's your personal touch and your customer will love it :)

Decorated metal tin

Add a printed copy of the order. It will be very useful if by any chance the package got shredded in transit because the shipper would be able to find the address inside and send it safely to its destiny.

Add an extra gift if possible, maybe a sample of your work, a useful promotional item or just a candy.

A great idea would be to send a nice designed Gift Certificate, maybe your customer decides to activate it later and give it as a gift. That means more sales for you too :)

You can add a Discount Coupon and invite your customer to come back.

Add always a couple of your business cards.

Receiving a package from your shop must be a total great experience for your customers... If you have any more ideas to give a good impression to our customers with the packaging, I would love your comments.

Have a great day!

Featuring "Skip to My Lue"

Skip to My Lue is one of Etsy's newest shops. The "doors" were opened in May 2009 by Denielle Lue. The shop features handmade items for women and babies. Denielle is a married mother of two wonderful kids, a 6 year old daughter and a 9 year old son and just celebrated her 11th wedding anniversary.
Denielle spent many years trying to find just the right hobby. She's tried beading, scrapbooking, sketching, crocheting and knitting and didn't really stick with any of them for too long. About 3 years ago she took a quilting class with a friend and has been hooked on sewing ever since. She enjoys creating anything that involves sewing. Her most recent projects consist of custom drapes, Buttercup Bags, totes and baby items.
For more information visit Skip to My Lue's blogsite at http://www.skiptomylue.com/ or support the shop at http://www.skiptomylue.etsy.com/. Additional pictures of her work are also available on Flickr at www.flickr.com/photos/dlue.

Leather and copper... I love it!

Copper wire is a very versatile material to work with and I love how it looks in modern jewelry. Handformed and hammered in different ways, accented with beads or just plane designs... just wire... no soldering or glueing, I will bring all my hands and tools can sculpt for you.

I'll keep my mind in organic & simple designs, I love nature and it inspires me everyday...
I love leather, It's a great complement for copper pendants, it's rustic and delicate at the same time... but as always, I have so many options of cords for your choosing.

New copper wire Jewelry Designs are coming soon, please keep tuned and have a great day...

A weekend of hope...

As so many people know, this weekend is The Weekend to End Breast Cancer® in Canada, organized by the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.

This June 6-7, 2009 thousands of women and men will be participating in this special event walking 60 kilometres to support breast cancer and other women's cancers research, and services through the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.

According to the National Cancer Institute of Canada, approximately 21,100 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and about 5,400 will die from the disease. And there are many other cancers that also affect women. That's why they are walking so far, to do something bold about breast cancer and other women's cancers.

One of my best friends is participating in this incredible adventure and It will be amazing if you would share this information and support them in their fundraising efforts.

If you or your friends are interested in making a donation you can go to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation website and click on DONATE TODAY link.

Every participant of this event has a personal site to encourage support and receive donations that will go 100% directly to the Fundation, my friend's site is this one: Jeska

As participants we honour lives lost, celebrate survivors, and help raise crucial funds to end breast cancer. It is through the support of people like you that they can ensure that the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation remains a place of hope and caring. I hope to bring an end to breast cancer forever...

I just found some Etsy Shops supporting the research for a cure for breast cancer, so, there are so many ways to help :)
